Primero, como siempre, de Yo.

Esta mañana, me desperté, me duché, desayuné y sali a las 9. Sindhu (mi mujer) no habia dormido bien anoche, gracias a la niña que estuvo llorando mucho. La pobresita esta constipada, y no pudo respirar facilmente por la noche. Anoche, para los dos fue una de las malas noches. Durante del noche, habian cambiado camas tres veces, para encontrar una posicion a dormir mejor para la niña.

En cambio, el Joe (mi hijo) habia dormido bien. El le gusta ver su programa favorito en la tela, se llama "Rocket Ship". Es una serie para niños, en el que cuatro niños tienen un rocket, como sus mejor amigo.

Perfecting Castillano

Today I would like to share my endeavours in perfecting my castillano (Spanish, as known in the Iberian peninsula). There is a saying that the last mile is often the toughest in a race. It is the case with my Spanish. Some facts : I've been living in Spain for 3 years. I have taken 1 year individual spanish course. I manage my daily life outside work with spanish. (yeah.. that means the grocery, the doctor of the kids, the school teachers, the odd rough guy conversation, the taxi driver, the maid, etc.) But, still, my spanish is not where I want it to be. I mean, I want to be really fluent, and thus be more confident in using it for business.

With this aim, I've just embarked on a Spanish2.0 mission. I surveyed several web sites that can help. The one I liked a lot is http://www.studyspanish.com There is also another one, called www.spanish.about.com which is heavily advertisement mixed. One nice feature though is a newsletter that you can subscribe which will bring to your inbox, a mail a day with a new word, or a new phrase.

It's been few days now, and I am revising the basis of verb conjugations, which for me is a hard nut to crack. I'm getting better, and hope to post in spanish in a few days time.

Scottish days

Those days.. between 2001 and 2004, when I lived and worked in Scotland, were some of the most nostalgic days of my life.

I was offered a job Scotland, with Agilent, while I was working in India, in the year 2000. That was the year of the web bubble, and there were jobs available in plenty. I was planning to ride the wave like many and go to the US. But somehow that didn't materialise.

Via Barcelona

Its been now over three years since I set foot on the Iberian peninsula. It was in Feb. 2004 that I moved from Scotland, where I was having a quasi settled life to the catalan capital Barcelona, to live and work here permanently. Gosh.. time passes so quickly..Much has happened in my personal and professional life since then. I guess it's a good occassion to stop and take a look back..

Life in Scotland was easy. well, now as I have been through life in Barcelona, I would say it was super duper easy. English language, Indian restaurants, Pubs, lot of friends from India and the UK, meant that you just floated along. Read about it in my post entitled Scotish Days.

My journey

I found that one never ends learning until one's last breath. Each day, brings with it some wisdom that could be used in future. Today, I learned about nuclear fusion, the secret of the Sun's energy, and other stuff, from reading a project about ITER. (http://www.iter.org/a/index_nav_3.htm) This is the International Fusion Reactor project for producing energy from fusion reactions.

Reading about the mind blowing scale of the project makes me think that it is going to be one of the new milestones of mankind.. I hope to be part of it someway, just because of it's significance..
